Measure the concentration of radon gas in your home

  • You can purchase a do-it yourself kit to measure the radon level of the air in your home. Radon detectors are set up in the lowest living space in your home, usually the basement. They monitor the air for a minimum of 3 months between November and March after which they must be sent to a lab for analysis of the readings.
  • These kits are available in some hardware stores. They are also available for purchase from the Canadian Cancer Society Manitoba Division.
  • You can chose to hire a trained technician or professional home inspector to test for radon levels in your home.
